Roots reaching back to the dawn of the listed option market

To prevail in today’s market, finance practitioners need more than just academic or practical knowledge. They require market intelligence; a practical understanding of markets that is also academically sound.

This was the hallmark of the legendary financial firm O’Connor and Associates (OCA), one of the most successful traders in the listed options market.
The history of the Nosco derivatives courses stretches directly back to O'Connor and Associates. OCA’s philosophy was to develop talent into highly skilled derivatives traders through a process of formal education combined with on-the-job experience. After OCA’s “reverse merger” with Swiss Bank Corporation in the early 1990’s, and the later merger between Swiss Bank and UBS, the “O’Connor” capital market courses became the backbone of derivatives education at the UBS Investment Bank.

Thousands of traders, risk managers, and derivative sales personnel benefitted from this comprehensive, challenging, and proven approach to understanding derivatives. As the managing director of the OCA/SBC/UBS Education team, Joe Troccolo and later Walter Brägger (both Nosco partners) were responsible for the design and delivery of the courses. While the course content evolved with the markets, the philosophy behind it is still the same curious, enquiring mind of the smart practitioner. Nosco Partners is committed to continuing this approach to understanding finance.
